People, please be careful. There are also people tracking children and people and putting bids on them based on their profile pictures on whatsapp, tracking and kidnapping them. Especially young children, so please be cautious, especially parents who have their children as their profile pictures.

Please pass this on to everyone so that they are aware of the danger. I don’t how it is all around the world but I know it can’t just be here so please please spread the word. Thank you.

Boost the hell out of this. Liking is good. Reblogging is better.

I think a lot of people understand why this is bad, but in case some don't let me explain.

The nation was horrified by the recording of George Floyd being murdered. But what if it had never been recorded? Would Derek Chauvin still be out? Would they have tossed the case due to insufficient evidence?

Look, the 2020 protests resulted in laws being passed to hold police accountable. Were they fully successful? No. Does more need to be done? Yes. But there was more being done than I've ever seen.

Now, in the space of a few months we have

  • The SCOTUS ruling prisoners don't have the right to an appeal.
  • The SCOTUS ruling that cops can't be sued for failing to Mirandize people.
  • The SCOTUS rule the government can charge nonIndigenous people for commiting crimes on tribal land, stripping Native Americans of tribal sovereignty.
  • And in Arizona, people can't record cops within 8 feet of an arrest.

This is not an accident or a coincidence. Conservatives are sending a message that no matter what cops do, they will back cops up. They are saying that they don't like cops being held accountable. These rulings should be taken as retaliation for any policy passed that protects BIPOC and hold police accountable.

STORY TIME!

Thanks to Covid and the school system not actually caring about special needs students, I have spent a little over a year shadow attending all my son's classes.

One day, his math teacher starts getting on him about him not paying attention, about being frustrated and increasingly upset to the point of no longer participating. My son has anxiety, ADHD, and Bipolar 1 Fear of Harm phenotype. (Check out JBRF.org to learn more about that.) He's difficult on his best days. However, antagonizing him when he is having an episode can result in hospitalization due to sudden mood change and psychosis.

I tell my son to get up and walk away, go to his safe space. He is struggling with this so I turn the volume off and make sure the microphone is muted. I talk to him and walk him to his room, wrap him in his weighted blanket, put on meditation music and dim the lights. He ends up needing his rescue medication and falls asleep.

I go back to the teacher, I unmute and turn the volume up. I hold up my phone to show that I am now recording and very politely remind the teacher that I sit in on every single class. I hear every word. If this is how she treats children, nevermind children with special needs, then she needs to get into a new profession. She apologizes and says she is having a difficult day.

That is no excuse.

You having a bad day is not an excuse for demeaning children.

Schools teach obedience and regurgitation of pre-planned curriculum, not how to think. I have worked hard to teach my son to think for himself. As a result, he is in advanced classes despite his disabilities. It is no coincidence that my child questions his teachers when something doesn't make sense. It is no coincidence that my child at 10yrs old wants to attend a school board meeting to question the efficacy of social distancing if kids have snacks and remove their masks during that time in a crowded room. It is no coincidence that my child will blatantly call out a teacher for being disrespectful. I have seen it, and when I came into view on the screen the teacher's entire tone changed.

My child might have disabilities but I taught him to think for himself. He is a bright shining light in a dark world, full of love and compassion for everyone and absolutely no fear for calling out bullshit.

Sure, the schools give him plenty of material. But they don't teach kids how to think on their own or to learn for themselves. That makes them smart. Not obedient. Good factory workers are obedient.

Rick and Marty hit the nail on the head "schools aren't a place for smart kids."

hi. this an extremely serious post.

so, Big Oil's lawyers, Texas, and other states with a very little IA/NA (Indian American/Native American) populatuion has decided that The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) is unconstitutional. because of this, they decided to being it up to the Supreme Court for decision making. they believe that ICWA is unconstitutional. this fall, they will have a discussion on whether or not this will be overturned.

This is a summary from the Lakota People's Law Project

"If the Supreme Court overturns the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) — a federal law that keeps Native children with Native families — tribal sovereignty could soon be a thing of the past in the U.S. Should the justices rule in the plaintiffs’ favor in the case of Brackeen v. Haaland, we could quickly see a return to blatant, pre-1978 genocidal practices — when Native babies were legally stripped of their families, culture, and identities."

Key Points to Take Away

  • Big Oil's lawyers, Texas, and three other states with very few Native inhabitants are attacking the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).
  • The Texas Attorney General is asking the Supreme Court to declare ICWA unconstitutional.
  • The Plaintiffs argue that tribal affiliations should be considered racial, rather than political, designations.
  • Overturning ICWA could be the first legal domino in a broader attack on tribal rights and sovereignty.

ICWA was enacted to protect the interests of Indian children and to promote the stability and security of Indian tribes and families. Overturning ICWA will be the first domino to effect Tribal Sovereignty as a whole.

Before you do anything else today, please sign this petition telling President Biden and The Department of Justice to defend ICWA, Haaland, and Tribal Sovereignty with all available means.

we need your support. please.

Just a reminder that while you're protesting for abortion rights, the government is now going after the Indian Child Welfare Act and is attacking Indigenous sovereignty.

Not only is the United States government trying to take away tribal sovereignty, but they are also trying to force pregnant Indigenous women and two-spirited individuals to give birth and risk having their children stolen from them. This is an act of genocide. This is an act of forced assimilation. This is an act of cultural erasure.

So while you protest for your rights to choose to have an abortion, protest in favor of Indigenous people's sovereignty. Contact your state representatives. Pay attention to your state elections.
